Individual supervision
Dedicated time to review your clinical work, discuss cases, receive feedback, and develop your skills.
Supervision is more than a requirement. It is where clinical judgment, ethical responsibility, and professional confidence are developed.
My philosophy of clinical supervision is to help you practice as effectively as possible while respecting your chosen counseling theories, techniques, approaches, and interventions. I provide professional feedback on your strengths and areas for growth, support the development of your clinical judgment, and evaluate your work throughout our supervision relationship.
Supervision is collaborative, but it also includes accountability. We will discuss ethical practice, clinical decision-making, treatment approaches, documentation, and the responsibilities that come with caring for clients.
Dedicated time to review your clinical work, discuss cases, receive feedback, and develop your skills.
A structured setting to learn from case discussion, multiple perspectives, and shared professional experiences, subject to Board requirements.
Meet with me at my office in Monroe, Louisiana.
Meet remotely through a HIPAA-compliant video platform, consistent with applicable Louisiana Board requirements.
We will review cases you bring for consultation and discuss your clinical reasoning, interventions, professional boundaries, and ethical obligations. I will offer ongoing feedback about your strengths and areas for improvement, and we will formally review your progress at least every three months.
At the beginning of supervision, I may request an audio or video recording of a counseling session for clinical review. Any recording must be obtained in accordance with your agency's policies, applicable law, and appropriate client authorization. Recordings and case information will be handled confidentially, using appropriate safeguards and agreed-upon procedures for return or secure destruction.
Clinical supervision is distinct from on-site administrative supervision. I provide professional clinical oversight within our supervision agreement; your employer or designated on-site supervisor remains responsible for day-to-day operational and administrative supervision.
Confidentiality and its limits will be addressed in the supervision agreement and governed by applicable Louisiana law, professional ethics, and Board requirements.
Louisiana PLPCs seeking full LPC licensure must meet the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners' requirements. The Board currently lists the following minimum supervised experience:
Post-master's supervised experience in professional mental health counseling.
Direct client-contact counseling or psychotherapy.
Qualifying counseling-related activities and other Board-accepted experience.
Required face-to-face supervision with a Board-approved supervisor, as defined by Board rules.
Supervised experience must extend over at least two years, within the Board's permitted time frame. You must also pass either the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
Current Board guidance describes active supervision as one hour of supervision for every 20 direct client-contact hours, with supervision occurring at least once every three months. Supervision requirements can change; we will follow the rules in effect for your licensure period.
We will review your progress toward these requirements every three months. When you become eligible to apply for full licensure, I will complete the supervisor documentation and recommendation required by the Board, based on your documented experience and professional competence. Completion of hours or supervision does not guarantee licensure or success on either licensing examination.
For the most current requirements, consult the Louisiana LPC Board application guidance and PLPC supervision information.
Complete the supervision inquiry form to share your supervision needs and discuss availability and whether we are a good fit.
